Houstonia purpurea
mountain bluets
This delicate perennial loves full sun to part shade and well-drained, sandy or loamy soils. Houstonia purpurea produces small, violet-blue flowers that are perfect for attracting bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. It provides both nectar and pollen, making it a vital addition to a pollinator-friendly garden. With its low-growing, spreading habit, it’s ideal for ground cover and provides a cheerful splash of color in woodland gardens.
