Drosera rotundifolia
round-leaved sundew
Round-leaved sundew is a carnivorous plant! 🐜
It produces small, white to pink flowers on stems that rise above its rosette of sticky, glandular leaves. These leaves are covered in red, glandular hairs that secrete a sticky fluid used to trap insects. Round-leaved sundew prefers damp, acidic soils found in bogs, wetlands, or along the edges of streams. It thrives in full sun and is often found in open, wet habitats where it can maximize exposure to sunlight and catch a steady supply of prey. 🐜
It’s an interesting plant for those working in bog restoration projects as it is not particularly attractive to deer.
