Doellingeria umbellata

Tall white aster

We like to think of ourselves here at Blue Stem Natives as very serious (just kidding) horticulturists focused on improving the local eco-system as we carefully consider every plant we choose to sell based on its merits for wildlife and local ecology in general.

But sometimes we also think things like "Oh, dang this plant is SOOOOO cute". Doellingeria umbellata even sounds like it has the word umbrella in its botanical name making it even more adorable. Another of its common names is, "parasol whitetop" I mean...my heart is melting.

This guy can be quite tall, easily 5' when in its ideal growing conditions...which is wet (but draining) to average soil in full sun to part sun in case you were wondering.

Doellingeria umbellata produces massive amounts of lovely white flower heads that are arranged in, you guessed it, a bit of an umbrella above the plant.
