Andropogon glomeratus
bushy beardgrass
Andropogon glomeratus is a clump-forming perennial grass, often found in sunny meadows, prairies, and wetlands. It thrives in well-drained, sandy or loamy soils and loves full sun. It's tolerant of a wide range of soils.
This grass provides shelter and food for a variety of insects, particularly pollinators like bees and butterflies. The caterpillars of several skippers and moths feed on its foliage, and its seeds are a hit with small songbirds in fall. A true prairie staple, it’s a perfect choice for a sunny, dry garden.
Plants can be purchased in-person or online (with in-person pick-up).
